Sophie kindly nominated me to take part in The Christmas Tag, so I thought I’d answer those questions for today’s Blogmas post! You should go check out her blog if you haven’t already: she’s a student and lifestyle blogger with some really interesting content. Thanks for the tag Sophie!
The questions:
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I absolutely adore The Snowman, it’s such a classic. My family and I watch it every year without fail and I cry every single time. In the last few years we’ve had to incorporate the sequel, The Snowman and The Snowdog, into our tradition and I love that one nearly just as much.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
I’ve always spent the actual big day at home, but have had a couple of trips away during the festive season over the years – Centre Parcs, Denmark and Russia are the three that come to mind.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Not actually on the day I don’t think, as I’ve always been at home, but we’ve had snow days close to Christmas before, and there was a lot of snow in both Denmark and Russia!
What is your favourite Christmas song?
I love so many Christmas songs, but I think my favourite would have to be Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon purely because it is the first song on my favourite Christmas CD; I associate it with the start of feeling festive.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
I’ve never done this! In my family it’s not allowed until Christmas morning!
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
I used to know them when I was younger, all I can remember right now is Rudolph (of course), Prancer, Dancer and Vixen. Who am I missing?
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
I’ve fully thrown myself into Christmas baking and decorating this year, and really enjoyed it!
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
My family has always had a real tree, I love going to choose it each year and the smell on the pine needles.
What is your favourite holiday treat/food?
I love homemade gingerbread, like the recipe I wrote about yesterday, but I think my absolute favourite is yule log.
Do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
I like my family’s tradition of all sitting together to watch everyone open their presents, taking the time to appreciate what everyone has got one another. My favourite part though is seeing people’s faces light up when you’ve given them something they really like.
What is the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?
Probably my camera – it’s kept me company all around the world and has captured so many happy moments.
What is your dream place to visit during the holiday season?
I actually wrote about this in a Blogmas post a couple of weeks ago.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I love wrapping presents so I’d like to think I’m a pro but I’m not sure how true that is.
Most memorable Christmas memory?
I don’t think I have a particular stand-out Christmas memory, rather just an amalgamation of all the fun my family has had over the years.
When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
Usually, I start thinking about Christmas at some point in November, but I don’t put the festive tunes on, the decorations up or get seriously into the shopping until December.
Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas?
Ahhhhh!
What makes the holidays special for you?
Doing things with my family we don’t usually have time to do – play board games, cook/bake things that have a huge time investment, get a little creative together with the decorating, etc.
Do you make any New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I don’t really like making resolutions, because it feels a bit pressurising and like setting myself up for failure. I also think it’s important to try and initiate change in your life when you feel like something needs to change, rather than waiting for a specific date. However, I do recognise that it’s mentally easier to begin new things in the new year so I normally reflect on the past year and think about where I would like to be going in the following year. I come up with more general goals I guess, rather than specific resolutions!
That’s all of the questions! I tag anyone that hasn’t done this tag already, let’s spread the Christmas cheer ❤

I’ve never had a real tree and I still haven’t seen The Snowman! Haha I’m actually jealous of your present wrapping because I suck horribly! This was such a cute post Alys! Thanks for sharing.
