May Bullet Journal Setup

For the first time since I started bullet journalling, April was a month in which my bullet journal actually hit the right tone across all of my spreads. It was colourful, yet uncomplicated, condensed yet not overwhelming, simple yet exciting. It has taken me four months to really understand what I want from this organisational tool and now that I’ve found a method that works (for now) I am going to stick with it… Until my priorities or mindset changes of course.

This is why the spreads I’ve created for May follow a very similar theme to April. I’m really looking to continue the positive steps forward I made in the last month, in terms of wellbeing and decision-making, and I think having a bullet journal is very useful when going through this process.

I like to share my bullet journal spreads each month as a reminder that organisation isn’t a fixed thing. The way your mind prioritises things can change from month to month; the level of motivation you have and need can also vary. Sometimes it’s useful to have more detailed spreads, and sometimes it’s more helpful to keep it minimalistic.

What I want to demonstrate with these monthly updates is that you shouldn’t feel pressurised to create a journal that looks a certain way, just because that’s how you’ve seen it being done online. A bullet journal needs to be productive for you. So my one main tip would be to create pages that help you do you in the best way possible.

With that in mind, I present to you my May bullet journal spreads…

Monthly Spread

I decided to keep the condensed version of a monthly spread which loosely follows April’s design. This is so I can see an overview of the main events that are happening this month, my goals and finances, and a space next to each day to track my general wellbeing (with a tick, wiggly line or cross).

Future Planning

I’ve dedicated a little space this month to documenting future blogging plans as I am starting to look towards what I want this blog to become in future months and years. If you saw one of my recent posts, you’ll know that I’m reaching out to try and collab with other bloggers: I want to engage more with the community and discover other passionate creators! At the bottom of this section, there’s a space for noting down events that are further in the future than May, and therefore don’t have a place to go in my bullet journal yet.

Weekly Lists

This layout is very similar to last month’s design as I found it worked very well for me. Anything, from the small to the big, that needs doing that week will be written down here. My April one is bursting at the seams so it’s a relief to have a fresh page to work with.

Tracker Page

IMG_2819.JPG

Of course, my bullet journal spreads would not be complete without a tracker page! This month I’ve gone for more general categories (such as ‘fitness’ instead of separate ‘walk’ and ‘yoga’ lines) to make the whole thing a little more manageable. I’m continuing with the ticking off method rather than colouring in boxes as it is a whole lot easier in a plain-page notebook.

Fitness Tracker

This was a slightly late addition to last month’s spreads, so didn’t make it into the setup post. However, I did write a whole post about my method of tracking fitness, including all of the benefits and how it’s helped me to become more active. So if you want to know more about this, you know where to head!

If you would like to see a similar setup, have a look at my April spreads. Or, for an example of more detailed spreads, check out my March setup. January was my most basic collection of spreads so will be helpful if you’re totally new to journalling, whilst February was somewhere in between!

    Love it!
I’ve always said that a bullet journal should fit whatever the person needs from it. Mine is constantly changing. Apart from my arty May cover and quotes I’ve not really decided on an approach for May.

Love your May spreads! I actually sat outside and drew mine up earlier; this month I’m scrapping the trackers because I’ve been feeling a bit too overwhelmed with everything, so I’m just going for overall goals 🙂 xx

I had attempted a bullet journal last year and realized it wasn’t for me. But I still love looking at others to see how creative everyone is! Yours is definitely creative and something I would love to continue to see throughout the year!

I love your bullet journal because it looks incredible but it is also very simplistic. It’s something I can aim for unlike the ones you see online where the creators are artists themselves! xx
